Where do Sessional GPs Fit into General Practice in the Future?
Outline: A career as a Sessional GP should be a positive and rewarding choice for any current GP. As expert post-CCT generalist doctors you should be respected, valued, and remunerated as such, in accordance with your experience and responsibilities. Sessional GPs should be encouraged and supported to pursue their areas of interest and career aspirations to ensure a personal and fulfilling working life and personal growth. Sessional GPs are invaluable to the NHS and are essential for the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient patient care in a modern general practice setting.
Speakers:
Dr Mark Steggles: I’m a sessional GP, currently working in Norfolk as a salaried GP and I’m chair of Sessional GPs Committee at the BMA.
Dr Richard Fieldhouse: Richard is a highly experienced GP locum with over 20 years of practice across more than 100 surgeries. As founder and chairman of NASGP, the UK’s leading support organisation for GP locums, he plays a pivotal role in shaping and contributing valuable insights to support locums nationwide. A dedicated advocate for GP rights, Richard has been instrumental in securing significant improvements for Sessional GPs, including GP locum access to the NHS pension scheme.
Audience: Cheshire Sessional GPs ( Salaried and Locum ) and Cheshire GP Registrars.
